The struggle for ideological primacy within Islam is a fight that only Muslims themselves can wage, but the moderates are struggling for access to the public square. Muslim societies the world over have been intimidated, oppressed and manipulated by extremist ideologues and financiers for almost a half century. The only surviving civic culture you see today is the corrupt networks of government leaders and/or the Islamist infrastructure. In our quest for "liberty for all", we must level the playing field for mainstream Muslims who have no means to effectively contribute in the "marketplace of ideas". This conference in Jakarta provided leading Muslim voices of change their chance to assert that modern day applications of Islamic doctrine are not incompatible with democracy and the development of vibrant, effective civil society institutions"

About the Author:
Hedieh Mirahmadi, an attorney by profession, Hedieh Mirahmadi has spent the past decade assisting moderate Muslim communities around the world to resist the ideological onslaught of Islamic extremism. She advises both government and civic leaders on the threat posed by the extremists, as well as on policies to transform stifled Muslim societies into progressive participants of a free society.

In the Shadow of Saints

ISBN: 9781930409323

A wise person once said, "Our bodies come new, but our spirits are ancient. When packaged together, this strange combination can work miracles." With today's global issues of violence, lack of racial and religious tolerance and the void of spiritual leadership, people are losing hope and falling away from the old establishments of faith, as they are constantly failing to offer solutions and peace of mind. That is one of the many reasons why people today are adapting the "new age" school of thought-seeking alternative means to find a light to guide them amidst the present spiritual darkness and material exuberance. But we are living in this moment, that of a new century and new generations. Every generation is identified by its great thinkers, its great philosophers, its great leaders; those who enlighten that generation by their great service towards mankind, not only for their time, but for all to follow. Those great personalities that transcend space and time become legends. They are heroes of the new age and we are living in the age of such new heroes. Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is such a personality. He is a new type of teacher who teaches without teaching; a new age guru who melts hearts without holding a single session of Sufi gathering; a new age shaykh who inspires and illuminates the seeking heart without moving his lips.

Have you ever wondered: What are the beliefs and doctrine of mainstream Islam as opposed to those who call themselves "Salafis" with regard to the Names and Attributes of Almighty Allah?

The author says in the introduction: "Scholars have observed that the Community's greatest achievement over the past millennium has undoubtedly been its internal intellectual cohesion. They point out how, from the beginning of the Islamic era to almost the present day, Muslims have maintained an astounding sense of unity despite the clash of the numerous dynasties under which they lived. No major religious hostilities have divided Muslims. At least, this was true until the physical and intellectual assault on Islamic unity initiated by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703-1792CE), his immediate successors and by the self-named "Salafi" sect of the present day.

The author then explains how the beliefs held by the Wahhabi "Salafi" as opposed to the beliefs held by mainstream Islam are threatening every Muslim's Islamic heritage. He offers this work and its proofs on the real Islam to those who wish to decide for themselves.

Angels Unveiled

Author: Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
ISBN: 9781567445145
Pages: 260 pages
Dimensions: 7.1 x 7.1 x 0.7 inches

Angels take any form they wish in the physical world. As crystal water takes the form of the cup in which it is poured, angels can take the form of any creation which they visit. They do not retain their full original form of light when they are sent to human beings: "Say: If there were in the earth angels walking secure, We had sent down for them from heaven an angel [without change] as messenger" (17:95). Angels can come as birds, as human beings, or as a form of light like a rainbow adorning the sky. They have a mind and a heart, but no will and no desire other than to serve and obey God. They are never too proud to obey Him.

Angels worship day and night without fatigue. They do not need to sleep, as their eyes never tire. They know no heedlessness. Their attention never wavers. Their food is glorification of God, their drink is to sanctify and to magnify Him. Their intimacy is in calling their Lord through hymning and singing His praise. Their enjoyment is to serve Him. They are devoid of any and all physiological restraints. They suffer no mood-changes.

Angels inhabit
Paradise and the seven heavens. They worship more than human beings because they came before them and they have greater and more powerful faculties than they. They are more pious than human beings because they are innocent and unable to fall into mistakes or wrongdoings. They never ask forgiveness for themselves but always for human beings. This shows us how much they care for us and to what extent God created them to look after us. God made them our guardians because a guardian is more perfect than the one he guards.
Angels are more knowledgeable than human beings. The teacher, again, is better than the student. Their knowledge is of two kinds: intellectual and traditional. "Intellectual" means here: "of the essence of reality" or "of the heart." "Traditional" means: "revealed and translated down from above."

Illuminations

ISBN: 9781930409521

This compilation of lectures delivered by author Shaykh Kabbani in various venues throughout the United States and in international venues, include a presentation on spiritual Islam to HRH Prince Charles of England, and lectures made at conferences before the Vice President of Indonesia and a conference in Malaysia on addressing the spiritual aspects of psychology. While in most circumstances, Naqshbandi Sufi masters do not speak from a written text-rather speaking from inspirations to the heart-in order to accommodate academic norms and forms of presentation, Shaykh Kabbani has written these detailed lectures regarding Shari'ah and Tasawwuf to accompany what he presented orally, as inspired through his heart by his teacher Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani. In these talks, Shaykh Kabbani presents the traditional Islamic perspective on a number of important issues of the day, focusing on the adaptability of classical Islam to the needs of the time, exigencies of social and cultural change and the advent of new approaches and methodologies in a number of facets of life. At the same time, Shaykh Kabbani brings an unusual perspective to modern day issues, relating them to aspects of the psyche and an individual's spiritual condition as well as societal impact and relationships and their impact on observance of Divine Law. Shaykh Kabbani is able to present complex issues in the light of potent relevant modern-day examples from modern science while simultaneously relating them to the traditional understanding of classical Islam and the normative practices and unparalleled perfection found in the example of Prophet Muhammad.

Universe Rising

Author: Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
ISBN: 9781930409484
Pages: 284 pages

Within the traditional doctrine of Islam lies a stupendous vision of creation. The Prophetic Reality stands before us a fountain, a point of origin for all creation, a root source of all we know or can imagine. While the theories of modern scientists seek to deftly calculate the state and position of matter and energy of the primordial universe, the Prophet sees and comprehends the cosmos at its cutting edge, its actual emergence from non-existence to existence. Thus, beyond bouncing electrons and jets of plasma, a superhuman intelligence is brought into the picture. Creation unfolds in a series of all-encompassing Divine Names. This floods into the realm of our world as it passes by the Perfect Messenger. He sees, he understands and he passes on to us its secrets. Drawing on the teachings of his spiritual master, author Shaykh Hisham Kabbani explores the implications of this doctrine and brings it to us in terms of today's conditions.

Symphony of Remembrance

Author: Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
ISBN: 1930409494
Pages: 188 pages
Dimensions: 6 x 9 in or 22.9 x 15.2 cm

This book presents the spiritual background behind the practice of Divine Remembrance, as it initiates the reader into the teachings of the ancient yet living tradition of mystical Islam - the Sufi Way of the Naqshbandi masters of Central Asia. Aimed at those unfamiliar with the terminology of this Path, this book presents the healing power of God's remembrance as a central pillar in the science of spiritual wayfaring and ascent. The path of self-realization asserts that knowledge of the soul is the most essential realm of understanding: "the foundations of psychotherapy in truth should rest upon an understanding of the interrelatedness of the soul, its Source, and the world it inhabits." By means of gnostic interpretations of Quranic scripture, the life stories of divine messengers and their inheritors the saints, the author offers perceptive psychological insights into the journey from patterns of anger, depression and attachment by means of exercises of Divine Remembrance and meditation, by which the six powers latent in every human heart are unveiled, strengthened and concentrated. Filled with counsel and guidance, this work invites those within and outside of the Sufi tradition to step up their spiritual 'game.' Through Remembrance of the Divine, higher levels of attainment can be achieved and maintained, and the connection to the seeker's true inner self can be established and expanded, providing the practitioner with a lifeline to the Divine Presence.

The Lore of Light Volume 1-3

Author: Hajjah Amina Adil
ISBN: 9780934905343
Pages: 469 pages

In a narration of Imam Ahmad, Abu Dharr asked Prophet Muhammad, "O Messenger of Allah, how many are the prophets?" He replied, "120,000 and between their number are 315 messengers." The Holy Quran mentions twenty-five of these messengers, namely: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Zacharia, John (the Baptist), Idris (Enoch), Jonah, Hud, Shu`ayb, Salih, Lot, Ilyas, Ilya`sa, Dhu 'l-Kifl, Jesus and Sayyidina Muhammad, peace be upon them all. These are the messengers of God who came with holy books containing the Divine Message. The others are prophets who received divine revelation but who were not ordered to deliver it to anyone; it was for them. By way of example, all of Jacob's sons were prophets, but Joseph was the only messenger from among them. Laboriously compiled from rare manuscripts, traditional Islamic texts, and other printed source material, including ahadith and athar and the many traditional books of history, and painstakingly translated from Ottoman Turkish to English, Lore of Light depicts the perfected, blessed character and refined manners that God bestowed on His blessed prophets and messengers. This illustrious work examines the lives of the prophets and messengers of God in great detail, heretofore unknown in English literature on their lives. It depicts the great lengths to which these holy figures went - at times losing life, suffering humiliation, torment and abuse from those who opposed them, often leaving their homes, always tolerant of their attackers and seeking peace - to guide the many peoples and nations of the world towards the light which God has sent throughout time for humankind's betterment and upliftment.

Mawlid ad-Dayba’i

Penulis: Syekh 'Abd ar-Rahman ad-Dayba’i
Disusun oleh: Syekh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani QS
ISBN 1-930409-43-5

We say, and we are not shy to say it: Prophet Muhammad SAW is our Light; Prophet Muhammad SAW is our Heart; Prophet Muhammad SAW is our Life.

For without our beloved Prophet SAW, we would never have been guided to know Allah SWT, the Mighty and Sublime, nor of the Angels, the prophets, the books of revelation nor of the Afterlife.

When our master 'Ali RA was asked about the strength of his devotion to Allah's Prophet SAW, he replied: “By Allah SWT, we cherished him more than we did our children, our parents and all of our possessions. He was much dearer to us than fresh water is for a thirsty soul.” Such was the esteem and the honor the Prophet SAW was held in by his Companions. By the same token, the hearts of true believers ought to be filled with similar devotion to the Prophet SAW.

Sending blessings on Allah's Beloved SAW is certainly the best way of invoking him, in compliance with the command of the Lord Almighty. In thus blessing him we show him gratitude and acknowledge his countless favors to us. To send blessings on the Prophet SAW is only a negligible payment for the unending benefits and good we have seen through him. In truth, to thank the Prophet SAW is to thank Allah SWT, and Allah SWT Himself is Champion and Supporter of those who honor His Beloved Messenger SAW. Blessing the Prophet SAW is a token of devotion, obedience and the highest form of worship to bring the believer closer to Allah SWT. The Almighty reserves the best rewards and the most complete forgiveness for those who continually bless His Prophet SAW. Suffice it to point out in this respect that it is out of honor and commendation of His Prophet SAW that Allah SWT revealed this Quranic verse starting with His Divine Self and followed by His Angels, orders His servants thus:

“Allah SWT and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet SAW; O ye who believe! Send your blessings on him and salute him with all respect.”

Following this verse, obligating believers to praise the Prophet SAW, Allah SWT then describes the incomparable Bounty that He is:

”Allah SWT did confer a great favor on the believers, when He sent among them a messenger from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the signs of Allah SWT, purifying them and instructing them in the Book and wisdom, while before that, they had been in manifest error.”

In obedience to the Divine Order and in expression of our love and admiration for the Treasure house of Allah's Munificence and the Manifestation of the Reality of The Almighty's Divine Names and Attributes, and in the blessed tradition of our ancestors and predecessors in faith, we present this book of perfumed verse dedicated to the love of our Master, and the Master of All Creation, Prophet Muhammad SAW, upon whom be the choices of Allah's peace and blessings, and upon his Family, Companions, House and Followers, up to the Day of Rising.
